Mattos is currently a K-4 school. Mattos will open 2021-22 as a K-5 school and in 2022-23 as a K-6 school. Go to the MUSD Enrollment & Transfer Webpage for information on enrollment. Please read MUSD Enrollment & Transfer Webpage carefully for the fastest way to get answers to your questions. You must enroll your child at your resident school based on your Milpitas resident address. If you do not know your resident school, please use the District's School Locator.
Due to COVID-19, families should complete online enrollment, and then wait to be contacted regarding completing the enrollment process. Mattos will be notified when you've completed online enrollment and you will be contacted in the order enrollment was completed. Do not come to Mattos in person without an appointment for your safety and the safety of others. Questions can be directed to Marian Leung, Mattos principal secretary, at email@example.com and 408.635.2695 x2107.
Frequently Asked Questions
If my child is currently a Mattos student in the 2020-21 school year, is there anything I need to do when enrollment opens for 2021-2022? Returning students do not need to do anything at this time. Returning students automatically continue enrollment as long as they still live in the Mattos attendance zone.
If I am enrolling my child for TK for the 2021-22 school year, when will I know what school they will attend for TK? Mattos will not have a TK program in the 2021-2022 school year. The district will evaluate space and assign a school in the summer and likely by late July.
Will there be a lottery for kindergarten enrollment for the 2021-22 school year? There will not be a lottery for kindergarten. Any student who has a completed enrollment by February 11th at 1:00pm will be placed at Mattos for the 2021-22 school year. Thereafter, students will be placed in order of date and time of enrollment.
If my child is on a waitlist, how will I know when a seat is available? The Mattos School Office will contact you by phone as soon as the seat becomes available. Personal contact with you will be made before moving down the list. The office can not make predictions on when a seat will become available.
Can I keep my place on the Mattos waitlist if I choose not to go to the MUSD overflow school and instead send my child elsewhere? No. Once your child is withdrawn from MUSD, you forfeit your place on the waitlist and will move to the bottom when you reenroll to MUSD.
If my child is currently enrolled in TK for the 2020-21 school year, will they have priority seating at Mattos for kindergarten? Yes
Do they need to re-enroll? They do not need to re-enroll via Aeries Online Enrollment, however, you will need to provide proof of residency during the residency verification window early spring. Details are forthcoming.
If I have a child already attending Mattos in another grade in the 2020-21 school year, will my newly enrolling kindergartener have priority seating at Mattos? Yes
What is the enrollment process? It is the same as all new kindergarteners enrolling for the 2021-22 school year. Your child must enroll by February 11th at 1:00pm to hold your child's seat so we have a full headcount of sibling enrollments.
What is the enrollment process for newly enrolling 1st-5th graders for 2021-2022? New students enrolling in 1st-5th grade for the 2021-22 school year will follow the standard district enrollment process. Therefore, families should complete online enrollment, wait to be contacted regarding completing the enrollment process, and then will be seated according to their completed date and time of enrollment.
When will I know if my 1st-5th grader is enrolled at Mattos for 2021-2022? 1st-5th graders will be assigned as seats are available and parents will be notified as soon as assigned. Remaining students will be placed on a waitlist and should go to Mattos on the first day of school. Anyone on the wait list who is not seated at Mattos will be assigned to another school within the first 10 days of school.
What is the expected date of completion for Mattos school construction? In other words, when will Mattos be fully open? Due to the delays related to COVID-19, all phases of construction are expected to be complete for the 2022-23 school year for K-6 students. To maximize enrollment at Mattos for the 2021-22 school year, Mattos is bringing in portable classrooms based on February enrollment counts. It is possible for students to start the year in a portable classroom and move into a new building mid-year.
